Vol.19 「 １年 」
ご無沙汰しております。
この更新を絶った数ヶ月の間に、いろいろなことがありました。
そして今日で日本を発ちカナダでの生活を初めて丁度１年経過です。
あっという間・・・
１年前は、誰が、コロナなんて想像してたでしょうか。
そんな私は、９月末にPEIでの生活を終え、オンタリオ・トロント（スカボロー）での生活を始めております。
島からのトロントは、ギャップが大きすぎて、頭痛くなりそう・・・
車多いし、高いビルたくさん・・・
幸いにも、３月に面接を受けていた会社から再度オファーをいただきました。
自分の日本での仕事に関連する会社です。
当初は３月に面接→４月に仕事開始→１１月に帰国と考えていましたが、コロナの影響もあり思うように行きませんでした。
９月に入った段階で、PEIでやっていた蜂蜜キャンディーの仕事はやめ、「後は島を満喫して帰国するかなー」と考えていたのですが、今の会社から連絡をもらいました。
ビザの関係もあり、今のタイミングで就職するということは、あと数年はカナダでの生活が続くということなのですが、誰もが体験できるわけではない貴重な機会を逃したくない思いから決断しました。
コロナ禍で自由に国をまたげない中での決断は、私としては、すごく重いものでしたが、覚悟しかない・・・。
日本では義肢装具士として働いていましたが、その資格は使えないので、義肢装具の技術者？的な立場で雇用してもらいました。
今は、日中働きつつ、アメリカのCertified Pedothistの資格取得を目指しています。
驚いたことにアメリカの資格はカナダでも使えるという・・・。
毎日目まぐるしい日々ですが、住めば都、悪くはない。
もちろんPEIが恋しいですが。
いまはリスに囲まれて生活してます・・・。野良リスの数半端ない。
ということで、もはやPEIに住んでいないのでPEI滞在記ではなくなりました。
次から何かしらに改名します。。。
次いつになるんだろう。。。
いつ帰れるんだろうな〜
ポジティブに頑張ります。

ルームメイトを誘って餃子会です。
旅先では、「どこでもできることをあえてやる」ことをモットーとしています。
なので、皮から作ります。
と、自慢げに言ってますが、そんなにたいそうなことではない。
ただ、久々の餃子が嬉しかったのです。
ルームメイトは「皮から作るんかーい」的なテンションでやや引いてます。
包んで・・・
圧倒的に餃子の皮が少ないことに気がつくも、もう胃袋は「はよ〜餃子をよこせ」と言っています。
餃子には、ビールをお供にと義務付けられています。
う〜〜〜〜〜〜まっっっっ
そして甘いものが食べたくなり、アイスを買いにでかけましたとさ。

- Dumplings Party in PE -
I threw the Dumplings Party with my roommate last weekend. I also cooked dumplings skin from hot water and flour because it is going to be more yummy. Gyoza is one of the favorite food for me. I had fried and boiled dumplings and kind of Gyoza hamburg because the skins were not enough, so a lot of ingredients were remained. But I had no energy to cook skins more because of super hungry... I had them with beer which is must!! After that, we went out to get ice cream and enjoyed nice sunset view.

ごぶさたしております。
夏の小旅行と題してレンタカーを借りて島内旅行してきました。
普段は島の南側で生活していますが、島の北側にあるCavendish Beachに行き、cottageを借りて一泊、反時計回りでぐるっと帰ってきました。
気兼ねなく一緒に過ごせて笑いあえる友人に出会えて良かったです。
なぜ、飛ぶのか、とか冷静に考えたら、ダメ、絶対、、、

- Small Trip In PEI -
I went on small trip with my friends last weekend. we considered we go to Halifax, but we have decided just in PEI because of Covid-19. Anyway, It was amazing trip because I was with my great friends.
First of all, we visited to Cavendish beach and stayed over night at the cottage we booked. We saw sunset, did the BBQ,had beers and laughed a loooot. Next day, We went to the west point light house and Victoria.
I am so happy because I met such a wonderful friends. I could keep smiling when I spend the time with you guys.

Vol.16 「 家具修理 第二弾」
４月の話になりますが、
ホームステイ先で、家具修理第二弾を行っていました。
以前行ったサイドテーブルの仕立て直しをみて、ホストファミリーから依頼（Vol.8 and Vol.11参照）
４月は色々と自粛生活で家にいることがほとんどだったので、喜んで、全力で仕事しました。（もちろん無償ですが）
今回は玄関先に置いているアウトドアチェアの仕立て直しです。
ペイントされた長椅子ですが、長いこと外に置いていて劣化が進み、表面がけばついております。
木を良い状態で保ちたいなら専用のペイントリムーバーを使ってペイントを一度落としますが、表面がかなりけばついていたので、ヤスリで削り落とすことに。
（あと、かなり時間がかかる）
・・・といっても、電動ヤスリなんてないし、ひたすら人力で、日本人の意地で、頑張る・・・。
あまりにヤスリまくってる様子を見て、おそらくホストファミリーは、若干引いていたと思う。
でも、意地がありますから。
引き受けた仕事は完璧に。
表面が滑らかになるまで、ヤスリまくり

防水加工して、またヤスって（計２回）

仕上げのヤスリをして

持ち主の要望で、木の風合いをわざと残しております。
オール手作業で少ない材料＆工具にしては頑張ったと思う。
BUDDYよ、
いつも作業を見守ってくれてありがとう。
そして、いつも散歩につれてけとせがんでくれて、わたしは暇なく自粛生活をおくれました。
ホストファミリーが、長くにわたって、この椅子とともに日向ぼっこを楽しんでくれますように....

- Furniture refinishing Vol.2 -
I did furniture refinishing as a second time in April. I experienced it at the community school in chalottetown, and my host family saw my work. Then, they asked me to do furniture refinishing which is outside. I happily responded to them. I wanted to give back to them because they have shown me kindness in so many different ways. Also, I felt It's good time to do it, because I had enough time to do it due to COVID-19. Honestly, It was tough for me, because there was only few stuff for doing it. For example, I needed to sand whole of the chair thoroughly as first. The chair deteriorated over time, because it had been placed outside for over 10 years. I didn't want them to get injure due to a sliver of old wood. However there wasn't sanding machine, so I did it many times all by my hand with sanding paper. And then, I put stain and waterproof. I also did sandpapering each every processes again. Finally, It was finished!! When I was doing it, Buddy who is their dog had been watching for me. Thanks Buddy!! I hope they would enjoyed outdoor life with this NEW chair for a long time.

Vol.14 「 就活 - トロント編 -」
PEもようやく暖かくなってきました。
さすがにもう雪は見ません。
朝晩は冷えますが、平均気温も１０度を下回ることはほぼありません。
さて、今日は、ワーキングホリデーとしてカナダに来た私の就活についてご紹介したいと思います。
日本にいた頃の職歴をお話しすると、日本では義肢装具士という仕事を９年間していました。せっかくなら自分の職歴を生かしてカナダでの仕事も探そうと思いましたが、結果としては、PEIで全く前職とは関係のない仕事で働いています。そこに至るまでに、トロントでの就活も経験したので、今回は「就活ートロント編ー」
以下、時系列でご紹介を・・・
１月 PEIでの義肢装具関係の枠を探す。実際に島の義肢装具士の方に会って話を聞いてみるが、人口が少ないせいか、人出が足りており、新採用枠はなしという事実を知る。（やや予想はしていた）
２月 トロントでの義肢装具関係の求人を視野に入れる。トロントなら飛行機ですぐ？だし、仮にトロントに移ったとしても夏に遊びに来れると思ったから。（この時点でPEIの冬しか経験していない） 語学学校の先生にも手伝ってもらいつつ、履歴書・カバーレター作成し、該当する会社に応募しまくる。
３月初旬（水曜） 面接のオファー！！！！日本のように応募したらとりあえず面接は受けれる、みたいな風習はないので、面接できるのはかなり大きな一歩！！！しかし、面接日明後日！！！「急だなっっっ」と思いつつ、これを逃してはという気持ちもあり、急すぎて価格高騰している飛行機を予約。
３月某日（金曜） 面接！！！！人前で話すことには慣れているほうだったが、今までにない緊張で人生初の目眩を味わう。面接用のお洒落着？で実技試験（聞いていない）ということで１時間ほどインソール作る。試験てか、がっつり作業しているんですが。という心の声を抑えつつ、粉塵まみれになり終了。 面接後、自分へのご褒美にCNタワーの麓にあるレストランで食事するも、緊張が抜けきらず一人前のパスタを完食できない上に、一杯の白ワインでほろ酔う。きっと都会にエネルギー吸われた。
３月某日（土曜） PEIへ帰る。帰りの飛行機はビジネスクラスにアップグレードされている。人生初です。高い飛行機代払っただけあった。一杯の白ワインでほろ酔う（再）
３月某日（翌月曜） 内定をいただく！！当初はインソール技術者としての採用枠だったが、関連会社の治療靴部門であらたなポジションをいただけることに。
３月某日（水曜） コロナの波襲来。不穏な予感。
３月某日（金曜） 内定先の会社もコロナの影響で一時休業が決まり、話は一旦保留に。。。。私の飛行機代。。。。
いい観光でした・・・・・汗
こればっかりは、仕方ないです。
それにしてもわかったことは、PEが好きです。
また別の投稿にて、「就活 -PE編-」としてこの続きを書きたいと思います。

- Job hunting in Toronto -
Finally, Spring is coming!! I’ve never seen snowing since beginning of May. Today, I would like to introduce about my job hunting that came to Canada as a working holiday. In conclusion, I have worked in the candy factory which is in PE since middle of May. However, I also did job hunting in Toronto. It was great experience for me, that’s why I want to share it with you guys. I want to write about my job history in japan quickly before I introduce that. When I was in Japan, I worked as a certified prosthetist and orthotist for 9 years. I also wanted to work as an orthotic technician in PE. At first, I was looking for a job as an orthotic technician in PE. Unfortunately, there was no position as an orthotic or prosthetic technician in PE, because there are only small population in PE. So, I decided to look for my job in Toronto. There is some positon, as it is pretty big city in Toronto. I prepared my resume and cover letter with my teachers who are in ELS. They gave me a lot of help. they also gave me brave a lot. I got an opportunity for a job interview in Toronto. It was so sudden but I decided to go for it. I made reservations such as an air plane and a hotel. I was so nervous that I have never felt like that when I took a job interview as a first time in English. Fortunately, I got job offer as an official. They said they will prepare new position which is more professional. However, as I wrote, I did not work there. Why….. COVID-19!!!! It occurred Covid-19 pandemic almost a week after the interview which I took. Anyway, it was good experience for me. I enjoyed sightseeing a little in Toronto. ...But I love PE most. I will write this continuation in another time. See you then!

Vol.13 「 新居」 - Just started new life -
4月末から、一人暮らし始めました。
Cornwall から Charlottetownへ。
いままでの家に住まわせてもらって、衣食住が確保された生活も良いものですが、
本当の意味で、「海外に住む」ということをしたかったのです。
「英語を学び」
「生活をし」
「仕事をする」
というのが、目標でした。
２個達成です。
３個目も達成できそうです。（次回以降のブログで）
朝、キッチンの窓から裏庭を見ると・・・
晴れの日は、だいたい来ます。
だいたい２名で来訪ですが、たまに１名だと、痴話喧嘩中かなと妄想します。

- Just started new life -
I Just started living alone in Charlottetown from end of April.
It is one of targets which I would like to do in PE.
It was grateful to have a homestay at a Canadian couple’s house because I could get experiences in terms of foods, conversations, and a lot. I also think homestay is kind of guaranteed such as food, keeping warm and security.
However, I wanted to be independent as same as when I lived in japan.
I sometimes feel sad and anxiety, but It is good sign for I will be more growing up.
Couple of squirrel often come at my backyard on a sunny day which my one of the fun in my life.
